Tungsten carbide wedding bands began generating buzz a few years ago as an interesting new jewelry trend and have caught on stunningly. Providing an alternative to the cost and ubiquity of more traditional wedding band styles in gold and platinum, tungsten wedding bands are also stronger, more durable, and incredibly versatile.
Tungsten carbide is, in fact, approximately five times harder than steel and ranks only behind diamonds on the scale of hardest materials; indeed, diamonds are used to polish each of these tungsten rings and give them their lasting satin and brushed finishes before they are sent off to make your wedding day complete.
It's important to mention that our tungsten carbide rings contain absolutely no cobalt. Some manufacturers of lower quality rings use cobalt fillers as a way of cutting corners in production, but this is a very bad choice in the long term as cobalt is a reactive metal. This means that cobalt interacts with other materials in its environment and will weaken and discolor the ring and almost inevitably irritate the wearer's skin. Our tungsten carbide wedding bands use nickel and chromium to make up the small percentage of binder metals necessary, resulting in a non-reactive ring suitable for most people, even many with metal sensitivities.
